MAR2PROTECT participated in the Ciência e Inovação 2026 conference, held on 15–16 July 2026 at the Lisbon Congress Centre, Portugal. The event brought together researchers, policymakers, public authorities, companies and innovation stakeholders to discuss key challenges and opportunities across science, research and innovation.
The conference attracted strong interest from the research and innovation community, receiving 206 proposals for discussion sessions submitted between 26 May and 16 June. These proposals involved more than 1,200 participants representing nearly 1,000 organisations, including research institutions, companies, associations and public administrations.
As part of the parallel session “Soil, Water and Climate”, MAR2PROTECT Project Coordinator Ana Pereiro participated as a speaker, delivering the presentation “Water Protection: Detection, Monitoring and Integrated Pollution Treatment” (“Proteção da Água: Deteção, Monitorização e Tratamento Integrado da Poluição“).
The presentation highlighted MAR2PROTECT’s integrated approach to protect groundwater ecosystems through advanced pollution detection, continuous environmental monitoring and innovative treatment solutions.
Participation in Ciência e Inovação 2026 provided an important opportunity to exchange knowledge with the European research and innovation community, strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and increase the visibility of the project’s work in advancing sustainable water protection.
